"Dany and the Nerds Club"
A film by Victor Alfonso, 26 minutes
A comical animation of a universal story: when a nerdy high school boy falls in love with a beautiful girl, his goofy friends try to help him win her heart.
Dany is in love with the beautiful Adelaida. But how can he ever get close enough to tell her? Every recess she is surrounded by friends and hangers-on, and Dany is too nerdy and nervous to approach her. Enter the one-eyed Calixto and his mathematical genius friend Eugenio—a pair for whom the word "impossible" does not exist. They can give Dany a few minutes with his beloved... but will that be enough? Based on a comic, this hilarious short film offers a unique take on a most common of high-school dilemma.
"Committee 666"
A film by Arturo Infante, 18 minutes
Every neighborhood in Cuba has a Committee for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR)—a citizen group that keeps tabs on activities and organizes social events too. In this hilarious spoof on the CDR, Committee #666 is a Satan worshipping CDR where members are in the throes of preparation for the arrival of the anti-Christ who is searching the world for a virgin bride.
In this short film we meet the members of the cannibalistic, devil-worshipping Committee 666 as they prepare for the imminent arrival of Satan. There's a lot to do before the Horned One appears, including finding a completely black cat, rehearsing for the welcoming ceremony, and electing a young woman to potentially be his bride—it turns out that in Cuba, having connections is helpful even when you're trying to get to Hell.
